Holdem Manager Review
In the current state of online play, to maximize profit one needs to play as many tables as they can. However, the more tables you play, the harder it is to develop reads on opponents. This is where tracking tools have stepped in, revolutionizing the way online hold’em is played.
Holdem Manager is a poker hand tracker and analyzing tool used for online play. It is one of the two most popular of its type (the other popular tracker being PokerTracker3). It records all the hands that you play, whether it is at a ring game or MTT, and saves them. With this saved data, you can track your losses and profits, as well as statistics on your opponents that play in the same hands as you. It’s power goes far beyond this, as using the program you can find your own leaks (mistakes in your game that cost you money) and begin to plug them, and can find opponent’s leaks and the best way to exploit them. HEM is most powerfully used in cash game play, but its usefulness in MTT’s and SNG’s should not be underestimated.
The HUD (heads-up display) is one of the more important aspects of HEM. Whilst playing, it will give you access to real-time statistics on your opponents based on the hands that you have played with them. Statistics include 3bet%, pre-flop raise%, fold to 3bet%, flop cbet% ect. The stats are limitless and all at your disposal. Editing the HUD is quite simple too. You can include and take out stats at your disposal, and even create different HUD’s for cash and MTT play as well as for different sites.
Away from the table, the program offers powerful tools to look at the hands that you’ve played. There are several different reports to run, such as winnings by stake, showdown holdings, holecards, and winnings by position. All of these can be further adjusted by filters such as date, in what block of hands ect. For example, if you want to find out how many times you flopped top two pair in a multi-way limped pot and won in the last 3 weeks, it’s a breeze. Because HEM tracks your hands, it can also replay them with it’s personalized hand replayer. Along with this you can see the pot odds the person was being offered at the time, along with the individual hand equities from street to street
HEM also offers some very accurate and effective graphs. These too can be filtered like your normal hands, and can show winnings from certain positions, in certain months, in certain stakes, or just generally overall. These graphs can also track your rakeback (if applicable earnings), as well as showing your winnings by showdown and non-showdown. Hem also tracks your all-in EV, so you can easily see if you’ve been running hot or ice cold recently.
HEM isn’t just for hold’em. With an additional purchase you can buy Omaha Manager as an accessory, which is a perfect tool for Omaha players. This is just one of the addons available to HEM. The others include table scanner, table ninja, hold’em vision and leak buster. Al of these tools are extremely useful to making a well-crafted poker player.
Despite this, the use of HEM is no match for basic poker strategy. However, the same applies to any poker software. Without poker basics, fundamentals and even some advanced strategy down pat, HEM will be useless to you as a player. It is meant as an additional tool to supplement your game and boost it further, not replace the early learning curve. All in all, when used properly, HEM is a huge asset to any poker player’s game.
