The World Series of Poker has still one tournament to go, which is the main event scheduled to resume in November this year. Nine players will compete for one of the biggest prizes in WSOP history. Meanwhile, the WSOP Europe began on September 14, in London, with a £ 2,500 six-handed No Limit Hold’em Tournament. The WSOP Europe has five events lined up that award World Series Gold Bracelets to the winners. The WSOP Europe Main Event begins on September 23.
Besides these two major poker events on the charts, the poker industry is always buzzing with online poker news – there are plenty of live as well as online tournaments going on. It is not only the high profile events being played for money but also some events held for charity. And when it comes to charity, poker websites also do their bit for the good of the society as a whole.
UB.com, one of the more successful names in the poker world has recently sponsored the Lecavalier Poker Charity Event. A Texas Hold’em poker tournament was held on September 10th to raise funds for the fight against Pediatric Cancer. The money raised through this tournament will be given to the Vincent Lecavalier Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center in Florida to undertake research and development of new cures for the disease and new techniques in patient care. UB will also be holding a second continuation event the ‘Second Sundays’ online fundraiser, the proceeds of which will again be donated to the Vincent Lecavalier Center. UB.com will match 100% of the prize pool.

The tournament action at Bodog Poker is heating up with more than $300,000 in cash prizes up for grabs at the Bodog Poker Open V (BPO V). Till October 3rd, Bodog Poker will be awarding seats to the preliminary as well as the main event of the BPO V. To qualify, players can participate in satellite tournaments for just $1. The BPO V includes two series of tournaments, namely the Championship Series and Contender Series which will begin on 26th September and end on 3rd October. Players can select whichever tournament they want to participate depending on their bankrolls. Entry is through direct buy-ins, through satellites or through buy-ins for the series event.
