Online Poker’s biggest winners and losers in the first 9 months of the year

We find some of the biggest names in the game, on both lists

For many people all throughout the world, the online poker industry is a veritable blessing. It has allowed them to do what they love full time, and make enormous amounts of money off of their hobbies. All in all, it’s a dream few of us ever achieve, but the online poker pros are leaving it to the fullest, just watch any pokernews and you’ll immediately get the point.

The world of high stakes online poker is extremely dynamic. You can be up one day, down the next, then win back everything you’ve ever lost two days later. It’s extremely volatile, and you have to always be on your toes. Even the elite, the top online poker pros, have their ups and downs.

Speaking of which, with three of the four yearly quarters already behind us, it’s a good time to draw a line and see who’s up and who’s down so far.

On top of the winners table we find Gus Hansen. The Danish pro is now without an online poker room, as Full Tilt’s license was removed, but that hasn’t stopped him from making close to $4 million this year. Behind him we find Daniel “jungleman12″ Cates, who won just under $2 million. NoPasaran is just behind Cates, with $1.87 million won in online poker this year. He is followed by PokerStars Pro player Rafi Amit, who has $1.6 million gathered from the sport. Matt Hawrilenko completes the top 5, with $1.4 million. Further down the line, we see Phil Ivey ($1.3 million) and Patrik Antonius ($1.157 million).

In the biggest losers’ table, we find Tom Dwan, aka Durrrr, who has lost the largest amount of money over the year. He has lost a staggering $2.5 million, which pales in comparison to the amount of money he has won in his career. fishosaurusREX lives up to his name, as he’s lost $1.4 million so far. “kagome kagome” isn’t much luckier, with $1.37 million, and cadillac1944 is just behind him, with $1.336 million lost in the game. The losers’ list (the PokerStars edition) also contains the guy who has made the most money in online poker, Daniel “KidPoker” Negreanu. In the first 9 months of 2011 he has lost $447,151. But don’t worry about him, he’s got what it takes to win it back!
