Online Poker at True Poker
True Poker is an online poker website that has a small, mostly low experienced players which form a tiny online community. It’s not the largest poker website out there, and it’s not the best one I’ve seen, but if you’re looking for a place where you can play mostly for fun, True Poker gets the job done. But i keep returning to this site because that the games are so easy to beat.
True Poker is headquartered in Costa Rica, and is composed of a team of poker players who got around to making their own poker playground. They tried to replicate the live poker scene as much as they could, integrating 3D graphics and lifelike gestures into the play area. The owners say that security and ethics are a big part of their agenda, which seems to make the place respectable. They also boast on being the safest poker website, and the best one (that’ actually a bold statement), and that they have a high-level security system.

The thing that stands out best about True Poker has to be its gaming software. As I’ve said, it is designed to be as true to life as possible. In fact, I think that it’s the perfect blend between serious, hardcore poker software, the ones that constantly have you at the end of your seat, and the ones that are more like a game, meant only to relax you.
True Poker’s graphics are both 2D and 3D. In the 2D game, it’s pretty much business as usual – you’ve got the standard table, standard backgrounds, a nice interface that doesn’t absorb too much of your attention and easy to use buttons. You can recognize players by their avatars, which are displayed in a small box near each of their seats.
It’s in the 3D game that it all changes – the player’s avatars come to life, and the view shifts so that you are transported in the center of the action. You’re seated at the end of an oval table (the display is so that you are always on the end), and you can actually observe the other players’ every gesture. There are 15 avatars to choose from, and they’re all slightly customizable.
As I’ve said, you’re able to view each player’s gesture. For instance, while in 3D Poker view you don’t have the cards shown at all times. Too see them, your character must pick them up and look at them – which is also seen by the other players. Look to rarely, or too often, and your opponents will start to figure out what you’re holding. As a little amusement, players don’t simply fold, they also make a short comment while folding or executing an action.
Another useful piece of information that the game gives you is the ping time. This is the delay that you have compared to the True Poker server. If you mouse over the other players, their ping time is also shown – this can give you an indication about that player – either his speed is slow, or he’s taking long to think about the next move.
The rest of the features are pretty standard. You’re able to write your own notes on each player, you have access to your statistics about your previous games, and so on.
If you choose to register at True Poker and play for real money, there are a number of opportunities for you to deposit and withdraw money. You can deposit cash through MoneyBookers, NETeller, Instadebit, MyCitadel, Click2Pay, from a Bank Draft or by Check, UseMyBank, or you can choose to pay directly with your credit card – this has the advantage of being direct, with no 3rd party involved and no additional fees. You can cash out and receive money through bank draft or check, a money transfer service or via wire transfer. The cashouts, however, are restricted to a minimum of $25 and one per week.
True Poker has a Live Chat option embedded in their website, where your problems can, theoretically, be resolved much faster than with the traditional e-mail assistance. However, the employees that handle the chat support aren’t the best ones I’ve ever encountered – for a start, their English is sloppy to say the least. While on a chat, I had to repeat the same thing as clearly as I could for about 10 minutes, and the chat operator on the other end kept asking me (in poor English) over and over again. However, he eventually answered my questions and gave me some satisfying answers much faster than I would have received through e-mail. So, bottom line, the service works.
The promotions at True Poker are surely something worth looking at. Among the current promotions, there is a free trip to the WSOP Main Event, which would allow you to enter the main event for as little as $5.50, the entry fee to one of True Poker’s tournaments. This alone is worth $12,500. And dont forget the $200 free on your first deposit with the true poker bonus code: 4NV so get started playing today.

As all great poker websites do, True Poker offers its loyal players a series of rewards, in order to acknowledge their fidelity and hard work. To do so, they give out True Points – points that are earned by simply playing in real money games. These real points are roughly the equivalent of $1, as for every $1 tournament fee or $1 raked hand in cash games, players receive one true point. By accumulating these points, players are divided into five separate levels of loyalty:
- Rookie – a player who has less than 2,000 True Points, and less than 2,000 raked hands in the last 4 months.
- Bronze – a player who also has less than 2,00 TP, but has raked more than 2,000 hands over the last 4 months.
- Silver – a player who has 4,000 TP and 4,000 raked hands in 4 months.
- Gold – 6,000 TP and 6,000 raked hands.
- Platinum – 12,000 TP and 12,000 raked hands.
Starting with Gold members, there are also special offers and treatments available for these loyal players. We wish you the best of luck at truepoker.com if you want to become one of these players.
